STEM education is a term used to refer collectively to the teaching of the disciplines within its teaching umbrella - Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. STEM is a wonderful avenue to support the growth of students’ problem solving and critical analysis skills.
When given a problem to work on, students use knowledge gained in Science, Mathematics, Digital Technology and Design & Technology lessons to design a solution, then work to engineer it using the available resources. STEM learning requires skills such as team work, problem-solving and perseverance as the students work through the process of testing and modifying their projects until they are satisfied with the results.
STEM lessons are held regularly throughout the year across the school and are designed to tie in with the concepts being taught in Science, Mathematics, Digital Technologies and Design & Technology. Classes utilise our Art/Science room, as well as outdoor learning spaces including our Kitchen Garden, Frog Bog, and oval.
