At Mount Waverley North Primary School, our camping program provides each child with the opportunity to gain knowledge, experience and a sense of achievement through a variety of challenging situations within different environments. The camping program promotes students’ independence and builds positive teacher-child and peer group relationships.
All school camps are fully accredited with the Department of Education and Early Childhood Development.
Year 3 - Stay Late (onsite at school) 1 evening
In preparation for our external Camping program beginning in Year 4, our Year 3 students participate in a ‘Stay Late’. This is a great opportunity for students to experience spending longer hours away from home and with their classmates one evening, complete with activities, food and a movie.
Year 4 - Camp Jungai (Rubicon) 3 days
Camp Jungai is bordered by State Forest and accommodates students in newly upgraded facilities. Camp Jungai promotes race reconciliation and with strong ties to the local community – local indigenous leaders take educational walks and courses in both bush tucker, and native plants traditionally used for medicine – Jungai is perfect for students to immerse themselves in indigenous Australian culture, and test their physical abilities via a wide variety of land, and water-based courses.
Year 5 - Camp Coonawarra (near Bairnsdale) 4 days
Camp Coonawarra is situated on 140 hectares, nestled in a wonderful bush setting on the Iguana Creek, East Gippsland Victoria. Activities can include archery, campfire cooking, canoeing, giant games, bush walking, flying foxes, hut building, initiative activities, raft making, ropes courses, team rescue and the giant swing.
Year 6 - The Ranch 5 days
Discover The Ranch – a 200-acre adventure park on the Mornington Peninsula perfect for school camps and group events. With activities ranging from horse riding and camping to various outdoor adventures, students can enjoy a safe, fun, and engaging environment outside the classroom. Run by a dedicated family with over six years of experience, The Ranch continually evolves to provide memorable, educational experiences in a truly unique setting.
